Liverpool legend Sami Hyypia will be leaving the reds this summer to join Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen. His time with Liverpool will be remembered for the ‘rock of Gibraltar’ strength that he showed in the Liverpool defense to ward of many a marauding striker. Also known for his crucial set piece goals from headers, he will be missed for the 10 years of experience that he brought to the side whether in the first team or on the bench. Every time he played he did so with the utmost unflinching calm that is so rare.
He joins Leverkusen on a two year deal. The team is currently in 4th place in the Bundesliga and are pushing for the Bundesliga championship and Champion’s League action for next season. They will certainly benefit from Hyypia’s experience and quality.
