England stamp their authority… in triplicate!

14 10 2009

England won in a mismatch of skills against Belarus by a 3-0 scoreline courtesy of a brace from Peter Crouch and a snazzy goal from Shaun Wright Phillips in a game that saw Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney on the sidelines through injuries sustained over the weekend.

In the stands was a rather forlorn Michael Owen who is dwindling away at a steady pace in Fabio Capello’s reign. Equally forlorn was Emile Heskey who senses that his days in the English team are numbered if he doesn’t match up to the goal scoring prowess of Crouch, the latter having scored 18 goals in 35 games while I am quite sure that Heskey won’t be able to achieve such a high conversion ratio of a goal every two games!

England have qualified for the world cup in South Africa next year and it remains to be seen if the lions can continue to roar or if they would metamorphose into the innocuous kittens that they were in the pre-Capello era.
